Ages 7-12

 

SSNC’s CLC program provides children with the opportunity to learn in a safe and fun environment.  The hub of the CLC is the Learning Center.  In the Learning Center all participants must spend at least an hour receiving homework help or academic support.  Upon completion of the Learning Center children may choose between a number of special activities. Children are also fed a nutritious hot supper each day.

~ TEEN PROGRAMMING ~


Male or female, we have programs to aid you in getting to the next level.

Here is a little more about each of our activities:

L.A.D.Y.- Loving and Developing Yourself is designed for girls ages 13-17.  Young ladies involved in this program are taught life skills such as how to manage conflicts, building self-esteem and how to sustain or develop healthy relationships with others.  L.A.D.Y. uses various forms of interactive learning such as forums, group discussions, educational games and field trips.  If you or a young lady you know are interested in learning what it takes to a be successful young adult in today’s society, then L.A.D.Y is the program for you.

M. A.L.E.- Maturing and Loving Each Other.  MALE is new and one of the few programs of its kind in the community.   It is designed to support young African American male teenagers on their path to adulthood. Led by Coach Donald Burris, young men are taught how to tackle tough issues (relationships, academics, drug and alcohol prevention and long-term life planning) in life by positive male role models.

Travel Leadership Club

T.L.C.- Travel Leadership Club – Through this club, youth are taught how to develop and enhance their leadership qualities.  Students involved in this program are exposed to limitless opportunities. For example, 5 youth recently attended an all expenses paid weekend leadership camping retreat. The youth were taught valuable skills such as team building, strategic planning and grant writing.  Teens also went to Atlanta, GA to tour several black colleges, many historical sites & several fun spots.  In the last few years the group has traveled to Minneapolis, Chicago, Wisconsin Dells, Washington D.C, Atlanta and St. Louis, Missouri.  Students who are a part of this program are also eligible to become SSNC student employees.

Homework Help/Computer Lab - Offered Monday-Thursday from 4:30pm-6:00pm.  Students are given a quiet place to work on their homework and use computers with Internet access.





SSNC also offers Open Gym and Game Room activities from 6:30pm-9:00pm 
An average of 60 teens attend this activity daily.
